| New Life Health and Hope Center
The idea, or more correctly “vision”, behind the “New Life Health and Hope Center” seems fairly simple on the surface. The cost and complexity of welcoming a newborn into your family can be a great burden for those who struggle financially. A new Mom is legally unable to even bring her baby home unless she has an approved car seat. Of course the child then needs a safe and comfortable bed. Add to those two basic expenses the sleepers, bottles, formula, and of course, the large number of diapers that a newborn uses every single day. In the seven years that we operated our Community Closet, the most exasperated people we encountered were often the new mothers who had failed to prepare for an event that was once nine months away, but was now staring them in the face. We’ve also encountered a great many Foster Caregivers and Grandparents who are suddenly faced with providing care for a newborn.
However, regardless of the level of preparation a new parent may have achieved, there is another aspect of birth that is often overlooked at that moment; that of preparing your child to understand the need for “New Birth” during the course of their life... not of flesh and water, but of Spirit.
The New Life Center is “birthed” to minister in both of these areas of great need. Through the donations of caring individuals, we offer material help with the items most needed in an infant’s new life. Rita- a mother of three, grandmother of 15 and day-care Mom to dozens of now-grown children- offers counsel from her years of experience and her relationship with Christ. But more than help and hope, she draws the attention of her “clients” to The Source of Life Who stands in the midst of every pregnancy and delivery. Together, she and her husband, Jim, attempt to guide the thoughts of these new moms toward an appreciation for the True Giver of Life... Jesus Christ!
